| Fishing
has been a part of my life from the time I could walk, for over
40 years I have been fishing through the West for various species.
With the opportunity as a youngster to learn habits of both fresh
and saltwater species I have experienced some of the West’s
Best fishing. For the last 20 years, much of my knowledge has been
honed through my writing business covering the ins and outs of fresh
water fishing. Article’s and techniques that have been shared
with readers of various publications including Bass West, West Coast
Bass News, Fish Sniffer and most recently in the popular pages of
Westernbass.com. Many of these techniques can now be learned on
the water with
Dan Mathisen Outdoors. I take great pride in fishing
instruction and bring new anglers to the outdoors. It is my intent
during your fishing experience to provide you with a full day of
instructional fishing. We’ll talk about covering such aspects
as boat position, cover relationships, current influence, forage,
habitat, seasonal patterns, tidal and required tackle, weather changes
and the use of a wide variety of baits and techniques. Trips are
flexible and versatile. Your trip
can be customized to fit your needs, whether it be to just fish
for numbers, pattern better quality bass, catching a trophy, fishing
a jig, learning to pitch or flip. Whether you’re a beginner,
novice, tournament angler or seasoned Pro, I have over 25 years
of experience fishing the Delta and Northern California waters.
Fishing
is supposed to be a fun and learning experience, this is why I put
INSTRUCTION first. It is my goal to teach the novice
angler and help even the seasoned pro’s awaking to new approaches
to this great sport. I can customize each trip to your ability and
skill level. We aren’t going to brag about big numbers or
monster bass, instead you will come off the water with a better
understanding of the how’s and why’s of fishing. Some
of the techniques I specialize in are fishing weeds, Delta drop-shotting
(drop-shotting with a twist), and big bite topwater. My home body
of water the California Delta is a fantastic place to learn these
tactics.
In
the fall, Striper’s increase in numbers in this wonderful
system. Plug Casting and some trolling can yield good numbers of
delta linesides. For years, I have spoken about these techniques
at seminars throughout the north state and now you can experience
them first hand here on the California Delta and on Lakes like New
Hogan and San Luis Reservoir.
